A Rework Of The Old Bridge & A Mini Park Addition
The now former two-way bridge (the “Old Bridge” as it’s known in Chelan) between Campbell’s Resort and Grandview on the Lake is in the beginning stages of a remodel and also a redirect in vehicle traffic. Also in concurrence with this project will be a small park area near Campbell’s called the Woodin Avenue Landing Park.
The work started just after Labor Day weekend and is supposed to be completed in May sometime of next year. The biggest change in this rework will be turning the former narrow two-way bridge into just a one-way only into the downtown area. Also included will be wider sidewalks and a bike lane. As a driver, to and from many of wineries and resorts on both sides of the lake, I’ll miss the convenience of a two-way bridge near downtown. I certainly won’t miss the oversized mirrors on some vehicles or the drivers with a few too many axles on their truck. The look and feel will certainly be improved, but hopefully everyone’s safety is improved: drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
